Our next Gong Talks event will delve deeper into the rise of artificial intelligence and its impact on the workplace

Is AI your friend or is it stealing your job?

Leading experts from the University of Wollongong (UOW) will meet on Tuesday, July 11th to delve into the use of rapidly ubiquitous artificial intelligence (AI) systems and explore their impact in the workplace.

The Illawarra community is invited to join Dr. Armin Alimardani, Dr. Loba Abbas, Dr. Aaron Burton and Dr. Jack Yang. They share different AI journeys and help us decide if we’re friends or foes. The evening will feature a panel discussion and Q&A moderated by Tania Brown, UOW Local Manager.

Dr. Arimardani is a Law School Lecturer and expert in the ethical and legal implications of emerging technologies. He said Gong Talks will provide an important forum for dialogue about our future.

“AI is more than just a trend, it has the potential to significantly change the landscape of employment,” said Dr. Alimardani.

“UOW’s Gong Talks initiative creates an open dialogue space that allows individuals, communities and industries to participate in this transformative process.

“As we move into an era where AI is more integrated into every aspect of our lives, it is important to understand both the opportunities and challenges that AI presents.

“While AI has the potential to improve efficiency and productivity, it also raises legitimate concerns about job losses. It will determine the trajectory of the workforce of the future.”

UOW Local Manager Tania Brown said the upcoming Gong Talks are free events that bring together local communities and UOW experts to discuss issues of greater importance than ever before.

“UOW is the centerpiece of the Illawarra and through this UOW local event, we are enabling the community to participate in the conversation that will shape the future of AI in the workplace,” said Ms. Brown.
