IoD Jersey publishes AI implementation guidelines to support business leaders

AI For Business

The Institute of Directors Jersey has released new AI implementation guidelines for directors and senior leaders.

The guidelines are designed to address key questions and concerns from business leaders who are hesitant about AI despite its accelerating impact on productivity, customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and competitive position. The document emphasizes that AI is now a strategic priority rather than a discretionary investment, noting that leaders need to “identify exemplary use cases with ROI related to business objectives” and “define governance structures to safely deploy AI.”

This publication outlines a five-step approach that covers use case selection, cultural and technical blockers, resource planning, governance, and success metrics. It also includes a board-level governance model to support AI readiness assessments, ethical principles, and responsible adoption.

IoD Jersey is a member of the AI Council and works with other member organizations and regulators across the island to ensure the efforts of individual organizations are aligned. These guidelines are shared among AI Council members.

“Boards must ensure that their organizations have the plans, appropriate governance, and capabilities in place to safely and effectively deploy AI. The purpose of these guidelines is to provide governance guardrails so that boards and senior leaders can confidently create an AI roadmap.”
