This week, we covered the doubly heated changes in Google search rankings, but nothing has been confirmed by Google. OpenAI will soon be testing ads on ChatGPT responses and charging on an impression basis rather than a click basis. Google has released Personal Intelligence for Google Search within AI mode. Google AI Overview is now also available on Gemini 3 Pro for complex queries. Google Ads is not yet available in the Gemini app. Google has added a “Reply Now” button to the Gemini app. Google AI Overview can display strikethrough text in responses. Fanout query prompts in Google AI mode are used to narrow down results. If an AI summary isn’t generated, Google will fall back to featured snippets. Google Search may make search results for recipe bloggers more publisher-friendly. Google does not recommend using LLMs.txt files. Google warns against using free subdomain hosting services. Google said comment link spam has no impact. Google Local Service Ads now has a verified section with more details. Apple plans to release two updates to Siri and Apple Intelligence, including Google’s Gemini. Google is appealing the search monopoly ruling, which should come as no surprise to anyone. Plus, more interesting testimonials about Google search and advertising. That was the search news at this week’s Search Engine Roundtable.
