Laura, the stock is currently up 6%. What is going on here?
00:03 Laura
That's right, Intel announced its Core Ultra Series 3 chips at CES in Las Vegas. This is a really big deal. These are Intel's first chips made with 18A, Intel's latest manufacturing process. Well, executives said the chip, codenamed “Panther Lake,” is in production and will begin shipping and be available for order this week. This is a really big deal.

So I'm going to explain, oh, this is a great 6% move. By the way, what a monster move this has been in the last 12 months. These latest PC chips make their debut. Why is that so important, Laura?
00:46 Laura
Well, Intel is stuck in a negative feedback loop and has a very hard time introducing new manufacturing technologies. After that, the company's chips seem to have lost their edge over AMD and Arm. Therefore, there is not enough production to fill factories and factories. It causes a lot of problems because manufacturing is very expensive. So under Gelsinger, they had big plans to move forward with manufacturing and bring in all these technologies. Well, there were a lot of delays, you know, Falcon Shores was supposed to come out this year, but it got cancelled. It was supposed to be an AI chip in a data center. Well, the introduction of 18A was a really big deal. Because this shows that they've finally delivered on their promise to deliver this really big technological feat, this really big advancement in manufacturing. Well, they actually delivered the product in that manufacturing process. Maybe they haven't been able to get Nvidia or Broadcom or a large external customer to make chips with this manufacturing process, but at least they've been able to offer their own in-house product. So far this appears to be successful. Let's see what the yield of this product will be. Well, it will probably help bring in external customers to the process going forward. Well, that's right.

What's next for Intel? What's on the radar there?
02:31 Laura
Yeah, I think people are really looking forward to seeing what the yields are going to be on these chips and 18A and how well the Panther Lake chips are going to perform. Next up is 18AP and 14A, and we'll see if we can get some big external customers outside of Intel products for those processes.

Okay, Laura, thank you. appreciate.
