In a tragic incident, a truck loaded with wood chips overturned and was completely crushed by a Bolero vehicle on Nainital Road in Uttarakhand's Rampur on Sunday evening, killing the driver, who was working with the Uttar Pradesh Power Board. The entire incident was captured on CCTV and the footage is now being shared on social media.

The terrifying sight causes confusion and panic at the accident scene. Bystanders alerted the authorities, demanding immediate action. A video also went viral showing people removing wood chips that had fallen on Bolero in an attempt to pull out all those trapped inside the vehicle.

A user who posted the video on social media platform X wrote: “To those who say it's AI.” He wrote this to vent the frustrations of netizens as this is not an AI generated video but a real incident that took place on Nainital Road.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 4:45 pm near Pahadi Gate intersection, one of the busiest intersections on the expressway. Police said both the vehicles were heading towards Bilaspur Gate. The driver of the Bolero attempted to turn around on the way to the intersection, but the truck continued straight at the junction, causing a collision and overturning on top of the Bolero.

Surveillance camera footage also shows the truck driver suddenly notice the Bolero in front of him and try to swerve to avoid a collision. This maneuver caused the truck to collide with the divider, crashing through it and falling onto Bolero. The truck was loaded with wood chips and spilled its load across the road, completely covering the small vehicle.

After the incident, rescue teams rushed to the scene

Traffic police, teams from three police stations, fire department and several ambulances rushed to the scene. Senior police officers supervised the rescue as a crane lifted the overturned truck and removed debris. The trapped driver was pulled out and taken to a district hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Traffic was disrupted for nearly an hour.

“The deceased has been identified as Firasat, a resident of Gujjar Tola in Rampur. His family has been informed,” SP Vidyasagar Mishra said, as reported by TOI. “The driver of the truck fled the scene and a manhunt is underway. We are also investigating whether the truck was overloaded,” he added.

Bolero was employed under a contract with the Electricity Authority and was assigned to the Hodo substation. Deputy Divisional Officer Nagendra Kumar, who took charge just two days ago, said he did not use his vehicle on Sunday as it was his weekly holiday. “On holidays, drivers usually get their cars serviced. That's why Bolero was with him,” he added.
