New Delhi: As global demand for data analysis rises, companies are increasingly seeking skilled professionals in this field. India stands out as a global hub, with nearly a quarter of job offers focusing on this expertise.
India is leading the market share of 17.4% of job offers seeking data analytics skills for the January-July period this year. cornerstoneThe Global Skills Economy Report 2024 stated.
Over the past five years, the share of data analytics job postings has increased by 52%, adding that it highlights the important role data plays in shaping business strategies.
The US tracks 8.8% of job postings focused on data analytics.
The focus of data analysis is closely linked to advances in artificial intelligence (AI), with demand rising by 65%. The role of AI The past five years. The report shows that countries like India and Germany are leading the relative demand for AI skills, even outperforming the US. India focuses on AI/ML at 4.1% of job openings. This reflects the height of a country in the global AI landscape and highlights a strong interest in developing AI/ML capabilities. Germany and Japan are following India with a share of 2.5% and 2.2% respectively.
Furthermore, the explosive growth of Generation AI (genai), a subset of AI stands out. In particular, after the launch of CHATGPT-4 in early 2023, genai-related job postings surged by 411%, highlighting the growing demand for genai expertise. “This rapid adoption urgently requires a skilled workforce in AI applications.
“Companies need to invest in hiring new talent and reskilling their existing workforce in order to fully utilize these advances.”
Interestingly, despite technological advances over the past five years, the sustained needs for human skills have been strong, and in fact have outperformed the demand for digital skills in all regions.
“As Gen AI begins to redefine roles across the industry, it becomes a human skill in leadership, creativity, and ethical judgment, turning technological possibilities and innovation into real-world success,” Cornerstone India's managing director told TOI.
In the report, Skyhive, part of Cornerstone, leveraged knowledge graphs covering over 150 countries, including job openings, resumes and government data.
Companies can remain competitive by actively tackling skills gaps, promoting continuous learning and ultimately increasing productivity and profits, the report adds.
