Here's a frightening application of artificial intelligence… a system that implants memories into the human brain of things that have never actually been experienced, and may be happening now or in the near future.
TMZ Studios' new series, Strange & Suspicious, features some truly bizarre stories that just can't be explained, like how computers could be used to replace prison guards or even serve time in prison. Stick with us, this one isn't as far-fetched as it may seem at first glance.
Tech companies are working on AI projects that will implant false memories deep inside people's brains, and in theory, this could even be used on convicted criminals.
AI memory implant devices could help criminals avoid prison sentences instead of sending them to prison for decades feel and Remember Going to prison for a crime… even if it's not a really harsh sentence and you only spend a few days in custody.
But as our staff points out in S&S, this could infuriate the American prison industrial complex and open the door to many other uses, creating a very dangerous path in the realm of AI and the criminal justice system.
Police can already extract false confessions from people…could they do the same using this AI technology?!? Some in this group think it is certainly feasible.
