As the guest of honor at the third annual Transformation Dialogue on Small-Scale Mines held at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) in Sunyani, the NDC standard-bearer said that the government should “identify the location of all small-scale mines and galamsey operations. We will use AI to , track excavators and geofence all mining rights, helping coordinate and monitor activities within the small-scale mining sector to reduce environmental damage.
He added that a special fund will also be established to provide a pool of mining equipment for sustainable development in mining communities.
“A special revolving fund will be established in collaboration with the private sector to provide a pool of capital and mining equipment to each gold mining hotspot. This will ensure easy and affordable access to relevant mining equipment. It’s easier to access.”
The former President explained that his government will achieve its commitment by implementing the recently announced Ghana Mining Excellence Center (GMEC), which he said will be coordinated by UENR and UMaT. [University of Mines and Technology].
