
The International Alliance of Theater and Theater Employees (IATSE) has published core principles for the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies in the entertainment industry. The move follows the union’s establishment of an artificial intelligence committee in May.
These principles reflect the IATSE’s proactive approach to squarely addressing the challenges and opportunities posed by AI and ML. “Our approach as a union must be holistic and focus on research, cooperation, education, political and legislative advocacy, organizing and collective bargaining,” the document said.

In addition, the IATSE Education and Training Division has released a LinkedIn Learning Path to provide IATSE employees with information on the fundamentals of current artificial intelligence technologies and how these technologies will impact workers represented by the labor movement, the entertainment industry, and unions.
