AI Video Generation is a rapidly developing field, with Google's Veo and Openai's Sora constantly overtaking each other. We are approaching a time when it may be difficult to identify video content generated from reality. However, all of these benefits are limited to the highest tier paid services. To access Google's flagship VEO 3 model (which can now generate dialogs), you will need to fork at least $250 a month. Until now, no one has actually tried to get the free AI video generation to do things, given how concentrated the resources are. But now, Microsoft is stepping into the plate.
Of all that, the Bing app integrates free video creators. It generates short videos for free using Openai's SORA model while limited. But is it worth your time? Also, do you need a Google $20/month AI Pro subscription compared to Gemini's VEO 2?
How Bing's free AI videos work
Microsoft will first deploy the Video Creator feature on Bing iPhone and Android apps, and will immediately follow the web and desktop versions. It is fully usable, but very limited.
This feature is built on Openai's Sora Text-to-Video platform, which is still in public beta, and is part of ChatGPT and subscription, which is usually $20 a month. SORA allows you to edit and adjust videos after creation, but Bing Video Creator does not have that option.
Bing Video Creator is also limited to 5-second video at 480p resolution, with only an aspect ratio of 9:16 portraits (the landscape aspect ratio will soon be available).
The platform is free, so it revolves around fast-generated credits. Once you start using Video Creator, you can spend 10 seconds generating videos. After it's exhausted, you'll need to wait a few hours for each video you generate (the app will send you a notification when the video is ready). Unfortunately, there is no direct way to buy more credits, but you can redeem 100 Microsoft Rewards points for future Quick Generations.

A text box will appear where you can enter the prompt. setting Icons to change aspect ratio, video duration, and generation speed. Microsoft will embody these first two options in the future, but for now you can set the speed of your generation to standard To avoid spending fast generation credits. When you're ready,[作成]Click to start generating the video.
Once that's done, the video will be saved in the gallery and can be shared or downloaded for 90 days.
How does Bing's free AI video generator compare to paid options?
As mentioned above, completely free AI video tools are almost unprecedented or very limited. Canva offers five video generations free of charge, but requires an upgrade to Canva Pro. There are free plans for the runway It offers 125 credits, but in my tests I found that I can't use it to generate the video.
I generated three videos using Bing's free video generator and was pleased with the output of one of them. My prompt of a bride in a wedding dress brought a video of the bride spinning her body around in front of the mirror, but not her head. Spooky.
What do you think so far?
Next, I asked someone to generate a video of me removing carrot cake from the oven (it has nothing to do with my sugar at all), which couldn't nail the movements of someone moving a physical object with their own hands.
But it worked on one task: video of a freshly brewed coffee, people in the background.
The Canva output was equally jarring. There are good moments in the camera flash, but the hands are like putty and the expressions are really far away.
Google's VEO2 has gotten much better. It showed the bride smiling in her new white dress. The view was too cut to my taste, but at least there were no dislocated elbows or necks.
As it stands, the video quality of paid AI video generators is still pretty good, and the free option is similar to the early days of Dall-E, when AI couldn't actually remove fingers or hands.
If you want to generate a short video to share on your company page, or as a gag, certainly, give it a try. Otherwise, it might be best to try Google's VEO, the best AI video generator, at least based on a test conducted by my colleague David Nield.
