BearingPoint Ireland and Kreoh discuss the key considerations organizations need to keep in mind when integrating AI-driven business solutions.

Last month, technology management and consulting firm BearingPoint announced a new strategic partnership with Kreoh, a Dublin-based AI agency and development lab. The partnership will enable both companies to provide customers with generative AI capabilities, as well as access to the latest research in the field and guidance on how to maximize its impact.

With plans to provide improved AI services to clients in a variety of sectors, we spoke to representatives from both BearingPoint and Kreoh about the benefits and challenges of AI-driven business solutions.

When it comes to AI adoption in business, a report last year found that Irish businesses are increasing their focus on AI and are increasingly considering budgets to integrate the technology and its overall impact on long-term strategy. Masu.

Regarding how companies can take advantage of this innovative technology, Kreoh's Garry Tiscovschi highlighted how the company's reporting tools are heavily used by R&D tax credit professionals.

Stephen Redmond from BearingPoint Ireland explained how his company helped global NGO Plan International deploy an AI system to assist with reporting for stakeholders. The system typically consists of a “huge amount of work” collating text reports from all the projects around the world.

“Due to the amount of data, it was difficult to structure the overview needed to create it,” he says. “We implemented a generational AI system that includes human verification to free up staff time from reporting and focus on humanitarian work.”

Both Tiscovschi and Redmond have a background in data, which led them to move into AI. Before working in release management at Mastercard, Tiscovschi, managing director and co-founder of Kreoh, taught analytical laboratories to biomedical students at Trinity College in Dublin. While in the latter role ahead of Chat-GPT's release, he says he intends to work on early generative AI freelance projects with his future Kreoh co-founders.

Meanwhile, Redmond is involved in business intelligence and reporting, particularly Qlik products, and has published three books on the subject. After completing his Master's degree in Data Analytics, he worked in AI for over six years at Accenture before taking up his current role as Director and Head of Data Analytics and AI at BearingPoint Ireland.

Redmond believes one of the key benefits that generative AI brings to companies is the ability to “mine their own IP more efficiently.”

“There is a huge amount of data across businesses that can be usefully mined and, in some cases, rediscovered,” he explains. “Being able to better leverage our unique IP to solve business problems is a key competitive advantage.”

However, as Tiscovschi pointed out, there are some things that businesses need to be aware of when using this technology. “Malicious attackers can plan on unprotected systems and manipulate internal AI agents to “mine” data, expose sensitive prompts, or respond inappropriately on behalf of an organization. or wreak havoc on the databases and tools that companies connect to their AI agents. It makes them more useful in the first place. ”

Tiskowski spotlights other “sources of mischief” such as instant injections and jailbreaks, as well as failures in which Air Canada's AI assistant misrepresented company policy (which led to a lawsuit) and early He explained specific examples of AI pitfalls, such as incidents. Cleo experienced it.

Redmond added that companies could suffer reputational damage if they release an AI agent that hasn't been thoroughly tested, resulting in a negative reaction. He emphasizes that this can be avoided by companies following best practices and ensuring AI is tested effectively.

“Releasing internally first is a good strategy, as your own employees can be a good 'red team' to try and break things down. However, always make sure people understand that the other person is not a human, he is an AI. ”

There are a number of risks and concerns associated with implementing AI business solutions, so it's important for companies to keep a few important considerations in mind when entering this space.

Redmond emphasizes that companies need to think about the source data they feed into their AI systems and what they ultimately want from it.

“You can use Microsoft 365 Copilot to search all the documents in SharePoint. That might be useful for discovery, but I've found that I've 'overshared' documents in the past and it's more curation-based. You may be worried that this approach will be taken. And he only indexes his particular SharePoint store,” he says. “The same goes if you have a useful chatbot that answers questions about a particular topic. You need to make sure that your chatbot only has access to the latest sources and that older versions are removed.”

The integration of generative AI into business culture is still in its infancy, but what does the future hold?

Redmond believes the technology will soon become part of normal business practices. “We don't even think about asking Gen AI to draft emails or documents or generate images for presentations.”

He's also looking forward to seeing how AI-driven video technology, particularly OpenAI's Sora, develops. “I know many people involved in content creation are nervous about these tools replacing tools, but we hire artists for their ability to draw. “I think we hire artists for their ability to draw what's in their imagination, rather than their imagination. That's where their genius lies,” he says.

“I don't think artists will ever stop making great work, and these technologies will only enhance it.”

Tyskowski agreed with Redmond's outlook, saying, “This is just the beginning.”

“We will continue to see more teams where humans and their AI agents or tools work together to accomplish tasks,” he says. “Productivity multipliers always increase when a human quickly mines an organization's intellectual property, automates repetitive tasks, and collaborates with his AI co-pilot on reports and pieces of code. .”

But he added that humans will always need to “program or provide instructions for the technology that serves us.”

“We still have to coordinate our organizations and create and interpret the directives we choose to agree to,” he says. “And even if we don’t create much media via digital pens or recording studios, we still need to design, curate, envision, and deliver art, culture, and knowledge to those around us.

“Going forward, many of the repetitive parts will be automated and reduce friction. We are fortunate to have this support because we still have nearly endless work to do.”
