The initiative from Debenhams, developed in collaboration with the multiverse of the workforce development platform, aims to fill the AI skills gap within its workforce
AI Skills Academy is fully funded through Debenhams Group's £1.35 million ($179 million) apprentice Levy.
The program is structured to provide hands-on learning that directly contributes to the company's operations, Devenhams said.
Employees participating in the academy will learn to use AI tools to increase productivity and engage in more strategic work.
Debenhams staff are trained to apply AI solutions to streamline operations and reduce manual tasks. You will also learn to build an in-house AI system to promote digital transitions and reduce dependency on external providers.
The new initiative is consistent with Debenhams Group's digital transformation roadmap, highlighting “innovation and continuous learning.”
The program will be featured to staff through a comprehensive internal communications campaign featuring in-person sessions led by multiverse experts, the company said.
“We're looking forward to seeing you in the process of delivering a great deal of work,” said Dan Finley, CEO of Debenhams Group. “AI adoption isn't just about investing in systems. It's about investing in our people. With the launch of the AI Skills Academy, we provide our team with tools to think differently and build for the future.
The group offers fashion, home and beauty products through a variety of retail brands, including Debenham, Karen Mirren, Boohu, Boohuman, PrettyLittlite.
Last month, the company entered into a multi-year partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to leverage AI-driven tools to optimize operations and accelerate new brand scaling.
A recent study from Busan National University highlights the potential for generation AI models such as ChatGPT and Dall-E 3 that will revolutionize fashion design processes and trend identification within the industry.
In June, Debenhams Group engaged in peaking, overhauling its pricing and promotional approach and implementing AI-powered systems to price a huge number of products across a large number of brands.
“Debenhams to Fast-Track AI Capability for Business with New Program” was first created and published by Just Style, a globalData-owned brand.
