In the world of virtual calls, brainstorming and fast-paced work, Zoom's AI companion is used to capture messages, and I, my team and team provide information, especially for those who struggle with time management.
Founded in 2011 by Eric Yuan, Zoom launched its original service in 2013. The AI companion for technology companies was added in September 2023 for over a decade as a consolidation of meetings, chats, emails and calendars. It was built as a “smart assistant” without leaving Zoom and using another app.
Zoom AI companions are included in all paid plans (price starting at $13.32 per month) under the Individual, Business, Education, Healthcare and Developers departments.

How to get a Zoom Call Overview
Meeting Summary is one of Zoom's many AI-focused features. With the help of an AI companion, you can turn your meeting into a summary that includes a chat thread, a list of next steps, and an overall takeout at the top of the meeting screen. This is the way.
Step 1: During a live meeting, the host can enable a meeting overview. This is automatically shared with hosts and meeting participants through team chat. Note: Administrators must enable each feature via account and group-level settings.
Step 2: Once the AI companion is enabled, it can be used to answer meeting questions. If you're late, chat with your AI companion to get a real-time response that keeps up to the discussion. Note: Each meeting attendee's software must be updated to the latest version.
Step 3: Zoom also offers smart recordings that divide meetings into “chapters” by topics discussed. As in the table of contents, this can easily and efficiently break down meetings and share them with others to see.
Meeting overviews and questions are supported in 36 languages. The AI companion automatically detects the major languages spoken during a meeting, regardless of where you are in the world.
Of course, the usual warning applies to verifying that the details are correct and verifying that you pulled out the correct thing to create the action point.

Apart from acquiring (virtual) hands that help you figure out what's going on during meetings, I wanted to use an AI-powered platform to inspire creativity. Sometimes I go back to meeting the outline to remind myself of what was discussed. Teammates inevitably drop the words of wisdom or note that it is important to implement within strategy and creative output. Thankfully, AI companions also track those moments.
The AI Companion chapter mode also helped me understand the relationship between team dialogue and topic issues. A high-level chapter overview provides a “storyline” for each meeting, sometimes throughline, to enter while being continually discussed and resolved (or ignored).
