Introducing Adobe Firefly AI, the “world’s first ethical text-to-image generation tool,” according to Adobe. Rather than training the system on the work of artists across the internet, Adobe claims to only train the system on licensed or non-copyrighted content. What is Adobe Firefly AI?
Adobe describes Firefly as “a family of creative generative AI models.” This includes the already released Text to image and Text effects tools, as well as the upcoming Recolor vector. For example, instead of writing “monkeys play soccer”, you can say “monkeys play soccer, cinematic lighting, close-ups, directed by Tarantino.” A bit of a cheat, but the most effective approach for generative AI.

The Firefly folks do things a little differently. The general style of the resulting image is set by choosing options from menus and pressing buttons. Simply type “Batman on a scooter” and select the appropriate function to create the desired effect. According to Costin, the image isn’t regenerated every time a new style is selected, so if you like what the image is about, you don’t have to worry about creating something completely different when you change the style. is not.
