  • Anthropic offers a free library of Claude training courses.
  • Courses range from simple AI basics to 8 hours of in-depth content.
  • Learn practical content in our short Claude Code course.

Various tools related to Anthropic Claude AI have been all the rage in recent months, including a basic chatbot, the coding assistant Claude Code, and the agent interface Claude Cowork.

These are certainly powerful tools. I’ve used Claude Code to build two Apple products on four platforms, and it’s been a game-changer.

But what if you don’t know how to get started? Or what if you want to learn more about Claude itself or AI more generally? After all, Anthropic offers Claude Courses, a free library of video-based training, some of which come with quizzes and certifications.

There are many courses, but it doesn’t take much time.

Courses range from the 15-minute “AI Features and Limitations” course to the 8-hour, 85-lecture series “Claude with Amazon Bedrock.”

I would like to take every course in Anthropic’s library, but I was only able to try one course this week. I made sure to add the Claude course list to my to-do manager. If you have time, you can study it again and share your thoughts.

I chose the 20-minute Introduction to Subagents course because I am looking to get the most out of this feature of Claude Code. Subagents are useful processes. Claude Code can send them out to perform tasks all on their own. Think of them as a team of interns. By giving each subagent a short assignment, all results can be included in a larger project.

This course consists of four short YouTube videos and comes with additional details as text in your learning management system. Anthropic uses the Skilljar learning platform. This requires you to register to track your progress. Like courses, registering for Skilljar is free.

Although the course I chose was short, I was able to get great value from the videos. I especially liked how the speaker explained the difference between using subagents and main agents, the benefits of subagent context windows, and how to optimize subagent specifications for specific jobs.

I was a little disappointed that the course didn’t cover how to manage subagents while they’re running, or how to troubleshoot issues if a subagent dies. But hey, this 20-minute, free course was still worth your time. We were able to obtain concrete results that deepened our understanding of technology.

Also: Half of all U.S. employees are now using AI at work, wasting nearly eight hours a week doing it.

Additionally, I unexpectedly received an amazing certificate that I can add to my LinkedIn profile and show off in my articles.
