In episode 95 of the Cybersecurity Minute, Rob Wood discusses how machine learning is impacting endpoint security.
highlight
00:18 — Machine learning is not all that new in cybersecurity. It’s gotten a lot better in recent years. One of his exciting developments for Rob is the expansion of Lane of Tools.
01:00 — Typically, when doing portfolio management, we think in swimlanes like endpoints, networks, applications, and data. Now the trend is to integrate these things and leverage machine learning to look at patterns across them.

01:30 — A good example is Extended Detection and Response (XDR), which combines network and endpoint swimlanes and other swimlanes.
02:06 — This kind of technology is inherently reactive. Something has to happen for them to detect it and you have to respond. However, further building these effective and fast high-signal detection and response engines and combining them with automation will ensure that problems such as excessive dwell time and response time can be resolved.
03:22 — Rob is excited about everything. This is really something that everyone involved in cybersecurity should be paying close attention to.
