JPMorgan Chase, the nation's largest bank, is trying to become a leader in the AI industry. Our research shows that the bank employs by far the most visa workers at 237, followed by Citibank in second place with 52. Evident AI's report ranks the bank at the top of the list of AI innovations for banks, noting that the bank generated 45% of all AI research produced by banks in 2023. JPMorgan's AI research is led by Manuela Veloso, who leads JPMorgan's AI research. Academics researching the potential of AI across seven key areas, from data management to employee empowerment.
The practical application of AI at JPM is led by the bank's recently established data and analytics organization. Teresa Heitzenserer, JPMorgan's chief data and analytics officer, leads a team of AI, machine learning and data executives across the bank. The company hired a large number of data science and AI talent last year, including applications for 37 data science employees and 37 applied AI and machine learning employees. In total, the company was seeking to hire 95 employees with visas that include AI in their title, with a maximum salary of $275,000 for the data scientist/executive director role. The minimum salary was $90,000, more than $30,000 more than the average salary in the United States.
According to recent job postings, the company is currently hiring for similar roles at similar salaries. The salary range for the Applied AI/ML Lead position was $147,250 to $260,000, and the salaries offered to the 16 Applied AI ML Lead VP positions in 2023 were $163,800 to $235,000.
