Hong Kong could introduce legislation covering the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in sexual offences. This is part of the administration's efforts to amend ordinances that would cover sexual offences by the end of their term, the security officer said.
Security Secretary Chris Tan Ping Keene also revealed on Monday that the amendment is based on the principle that it does not distinguish between sexual orientation or sexual orientation.
Tan said the Legal Reform Committee, tasked with recommending changes to the crime ordinance, would consider whether computer-related crimes and the use of AI to generate sexually explicit images should be included.
He was answering media questions about whether to use AI tools to create pornographic images of female classmates to cover cases such as recent cases of Hong Kong University (HKU) students.
“If an action is deemed unacceptable by society and cannot be addressed by current law, we must improve the law to address any laws we use,” Tang said.
The HKU incident was revealed in July when a friend of law student discovered a folder containing 700 images on a personal laptop, including 700 images containing generated porn images of 20-30 women.
