RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior is using artificial intelligence and data analytics to improve service quality, security, and environmental security.
The ministry is leveraging advanced technology in several areas, including crowd control and translation for pilgrims in Mecca and Madinah. AI-powered drones will be used to enhance surveillance, surveillance, and crowd management.
The use of AI focuses on innovation, integration, speed and accuracy, managing crowd density through crowd flow analysis and congestion prediction, and using big data to allocate human and technical resources.
Other AI tools, such as command and control centers with real-time data analysis techniques, are contributing to reducing crime in the country. According to the Saudi Press Agency, this will enable a more seamless and efficient experience for citizens, residents and visitors.
The center works closely with various government departments to ensure prompt and accurate responses to both pilgrims and Umrah performers regarding crowd control, security and safety, and service issues.
The Ministry of Interior’s efforts are highlighted by the simplification of the entry process for pilgrims through the ‘Smart Pass’ implemented by the Directorate General of Passports, which uses AI to process incoming arrivals. This allows for smooth passage, fast and accurate entry confirmation, reduced waiting times, and an improved overall experience.
The Department also established unified data as a strategic step towards greater integration between different systems. This enables accurate decision-making based on comprehensive insights, contributing to improved operational efficiency and service quality.
The ministry, in collaboration with the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, also operates a digital identity project through the Tawakarna application, which includes national identity and resident identity.
