Through this, HKUST aims to accelerate the large-scale application of robotics and AI technologies.
The Chen Kashun Robotics Research Institute (CKSRI) at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has announced the establishment of the Industrial Alliance, a new platform aimed at strengthening the links between HKUST’s research teams and industry partners in research and development, technology translation, and talent development.
In the long term, the Institute aims to support the deployment of robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies across a wide range of real-world applications. This initiative is also consistent with the national “AI+ Initiative” outlined in Article 15.th 5 year plan. Contribute to advances in embodied intelligence and other emerging technologies.
The Alliance’s founding members represent a variety of fields, including autonomous systems, aeronautical robotics, marine systems, power and energy equipment, computing and semiconductor technology, and optics.
Through this platform, HKUST contributes its research expertise and technical capabilities, and industry partners provide real-world test and application environments. Students also have the opportunity to participate in joint projects and internships with partner organizations, allowing them to apply their knowledge in a practical environment.
“We expect the collaboration to evolve from individual projects to broader, larger-scale applications, enabling robotics and bodily AI technologies to expand into various fields, as well as attracting talent and resources to Hong Kong to support long-term growth.” Professor Shi LinDirector of the Chen Ka-shun Robotics Institute and professor in the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering and the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, Hong Kong University of Technology.
