HCL Tech and UK-based Arm partner to develop custom silicon chips for AI-driven businesses

IT major HCL Tech on Monday said it has partnered with British semiconductor and software design company Arm to develop custom silicon chips to support AI-driven business operations.

Semiconductors designed for specific tasks are called custom silicon chips.

“This partnership will bring to market solutions that enable semiconductor manufacturers, system OEMs and cloud service providers to improve computing efficiency in data center environments,” HCLTech said in a statement.

HCL Tech added that as a member of Arm Total Design, an ecosystem that brings together industry leaders to accelerate the smooth delivery of Arm-based custom silicon chips, it has priority access to Neoverse CSS.

“HCLTech's collaboration with Arm will contribute to the development of industry-leading custom AI silicon solutions that will revolutionize the way AI workloads are processed in data center environments,” said Ameer Saithu, executive vice president of engineering and R&D services at HCLTech.

According to the statement, HCL Tech will leverage Arm Neoverse Compute Subsystems (CSS) to deliver innovative, market-aligned solutions aimed at minimizing customers' development risk and improving performance and scalability for AI workloads.
