Washington: Microsoft announced that it has developed the OpenAI multimodal model GPT-4o, which is available to developers on Azure AI. This announcement was made at the company's developer conference “Microsoft Build 2024.”
Developers can now explore GPT-4o on the Microsoft Cloud platform using Azure AI Studio and its APIs. Azure AI Studio provides a playground with the latest tools supported by Azure, including GPT-4 Turbo and now GPT-4o. All of GPT-4o's image and vision capabilities are currently accessible via OpenAI's API and ChatGPT, with the long-awaited voice mode expected to be available in the coming weeks. This applies to both Azure AI Studio and Microsoft's APIs.
According to a blog post on the Microsoft Tech Community Hub, audio functionality is not yet available. Although the exact timeline for Azure AI's audio capabilities remains unclear, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella hinted at the possibility of using his GPT-4o via Copilot. For example, a user can share a screen or session with his GPT-4o-powered Copilot and request support for playing Minecraft.
Alternatively, Mashable's Alex Perry suggests that if users run into problems with Minecraft, they can play the game for 10 minutes or simply search on Google.
Explaining the potential applications of GPT-4o in Azure AI, Nadella said: “One of the most amazing things about her is that she can essentially turn any app, any website, into a fully multimodal, full-duplex, conversational canvas.
