An AI-generated video of Govinda's fake Na'vi cameo in Avatar: Fire and Ash has gone viral online, sparking confusion, memes and hilarious reactions across social media.
An AI-generated video of Govinda pretending to be Na'vi in Avatar: Fire and Ash has gone viral, confusing and amusing social media users, leaving them flooded with memes.
The internet has discovered a new playground of chaos, but this time it's powered by artificial intelligence. In the aftermath of James Cameron's latest visual spectacle, Avatar: Fire and Ashes, social media timelines were suddenly flooded with videos and images claiming that Bollywood star Govinda made a surprise cameo in the film. The only problem? None of them are real.
An AI-generated clip showing Govinda as a blue-skinned Na'vi started circulating widely, leaving fans confused, amused, and worried at the same time. The digitally altered visuals were convincing enough to spark a full-scale debate before the truth was revealed.
Govinda, a Na'vi?
The fake video features Govinda painted in his avatar's signature blue, delivering his iconic 'Bati Bhujya' dialogue with a theatrical flair. One viral image also shows an audience sitting inside a cinema hall watching Govinda appear on screen wearing a colorful Gujarati jacket, sharing frame space with Jake Salley.
Multiple variations of the fabricated cameo have surfaced, each escalating the absurdity. Some clips seamlessly weave Govinda into fight scenes, while others lean fully into parody, exaggerating his on-screen presence to meme-worthy extremes.
Naturally, social media users were the first to jump on the joke. “Sch me h kya ye (Is this true?)” asked one confused viewer. Adding to the confusion, another wrote: “Yr iss scene pr goosebumps aa gye the.” “It was totally unexpected, but I loved the cameo,” joked a user. “Og is back🙌 phaly akshay Khana or ab lord govinda (First it was Akshay Khanna, now Govinda),” read another reviewer's comment.
Despite the enthusiasm, the truth is simple. Govinda is not part of Avatar: Fire and Ash.
How did memes start?
The origins of this strange trend can be traced back to an old interview in which Govinda once claimed to have been offered an avatar. Speaking to Mukesh Khanna earlier this year, he said he turned down the project, which has now grossed $2.9 billion and is one of the highest-grossing films of all time, because he didn't like the idea.
Govinda said, “I also left an offer of Rs 2.15 crore. But I remember this because it was painful. I met Sardarji in the US and gave him a business idea to work in sweets and delicacies. Years later, he told me that the idea worked wonders for him. There he made me meet James Cameron. He asked me to do a film with James and I invited him to dinner to discuss it.”
He further added, “The photo title is Bhimain hi diya ta. Main Rajesh Khanna ji ko dekha ta left hand kata hua…main kaha, 'Yaar acha aadmi he pata nahi kyu ajeeb sa rol ka riya!'” Toh mujhe kehta hai, “The main character is lame!”… Maine kaha, “Is it lame?” Govinda! Hello? I'm not painting your picture! He said, “I'm offering you 18 billion yen.'' I said, “I don't need your 18 billion yen.'' The filming period is said to be 410 days. I said it's okay, but if you paint on your body, you'll be hospitalized! ”
This claim did not sit well with many and even Govinda's wife Sunita Ahuja completely dismissed the claim.
“Alay yaar mujhe toh nahi pata yeh kabu offer hui, 40 saar toh mujhe hogay hain govinda ke saath… main jos nahi borti naa main kis ka side lungi. Main jos ka saat nahi deti,” she said on a podcast with Wolfi Javed.
