CYBERJAYA (July 28): Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said the government is still in discussions with stakeholders regarding artificial intelligence (AI) applications offered under it. AI Untuk Rakyat A program targeting 100,000 Malaysian youth.

Mr Govind said the program is part of the government’s efforts to strengthen awareness, access and adoption of AI across the country.

He added that the Ministry of Digital is focusing on three key areas: awareness, access, and adoption to help people understand, have access to, and ultimately use AI in their daily lives.

“Knowing that the technology exists is not enough. If you don’t have access to it, then you have a problem because people know the technology is available but they can’t use it. Then you have to make sure that Malaysians can actually use the technology, and that’s where adoption becomes important,” he explained.

Mr. Govind said the ministry is developing short and practical modules based on this plan. AI Untuk Rakyat Programs covering AI, cybersecurity, cloud technology, and other digital transformation-related areas.

Upon completion, participants receive a digital certification and potential rewards or tokens to facilitate continued engagement with the AI ​​tool.

“Details are still being worked out, including who we will partner with and what the incentives will look like,” he said, adding that Malaysian businesses and industries would also be prioritized in the rollout of the program.

Anwar previously announced: AI Untuk Rakyat The program launched on August 31 and is expected to benefit 100,000 young people, with participants who complete the required course set to receive three months of free access to leading AI software.
