Google's new AI video editor now available for testing: Learn more

AI Video & Visuals

Google has launched Google Vids, an AI-powered video creation app integrated into the Google Workspace suite. The tool is designed to streamline the creation of internal company video content, similar to powerful PowerPoint presentations. First announced earlier this year, the feature has now been tested by Google as promised, with eagle-eyed users noticing the feature becoming available in Workspace Labs, reports Android Authority.

Google Vids leverages Gemini AI to automate various aspects of video production. The AI can generate slides, write scripts, source relevant stock footage from Shutterstock, and create a storyboard for the entire video. Users can extensively edit the video by adding or removing elements such as slides, text, images, and recordings, and export the video as an MP4 file.

Unlike Google Docs, where the AI functionality is hidden, Google Vids prominently displays Gemini prompts. When starting a new project, users are presented with a text field to briefly describe the video's theme and goal. Users can tell the AI to incorporate a document from Google Drive or bypass the AI integration and choose an existing template.

Google's introduction of Google Vids marks a big step towards improving workplace productivity through intuitive, AI-driven video creation tools, promising to simplify and accelerate content creation in both educational and enterprise environments. As testing continues, enhancements are expected to further refine the app, making it a valuable addition to Google's suite of productivity tools.
