Google's GeminiAI summarizes PDF when opening PDF

Google is rolling out a new Gemini AI feature for Workspace users that makes it easier to find information and shape responses in PDFs. The Gemini-powered file summarization feature on Google Drive has been extended to PDFS and Google Forms, allowing users to condense important details and insights into a more convenient format to prevent users from digging files manually.

Gemini actively creates summary cards when users open PDFs on the drive and present clickable actions based on content such as “draft sample proposals” and “list interview questions based on this resume.” Users can select one of these options to let Gemini perform the desired task in the driveside panel. The feature is available in over 20 languages ​​and began rolling out to Google Workspace users on June 12th, but it may take several weeks to display.

A similar Gemini feature in Google Forms summarises the answers to short answers or paragraph questions, referring to the form title, description, question, and replies to highlight the main themes and takeaways. When a question receives more than one answer, the options will be displayed in the Answers tab. This feature is available in English only “currently”. General availability for workspace users will begin deployment on June 26th.

Google Forms, which automatically creates forms based on user descriptions, also has a new “Help Me Create” Gemini feature. Workspace users can refer to support documents, sheets, slides, or PDFs at the prompt and incorporate those details into Gemini. For example, a carpenter can import a product catalog into a feature and generate a quote form for which you send it to your customers.

This feature is available in English and will begin to be deployed to regular workspace domains on July 7th.
