At the end of last year, Google introduced the “Dream Screen” feature for YouTube shorts. This is the playback of the word “Green Screen” and allows content creators to use AI-generated images and videos as backgrounds for the video.
The company builds on this feature and plans to integrate the latest VEO 3 models into the shorts. This allows creators to generate elaborate and rather sophisticated video clips to use with shorts at just a text prompt.

This was announced by YouTube CEO Neal Mohan while attending the Cannes Lions Film Festival. The integration is scheduled to be released later this summer.
Here's a demo of what the Dream Screen can do now:

Please note that this feature is based on the older VEO 2 model. And this is what Veo 3 can do. Note that the AI model generated not only visuals, but all the sound effects and even the voices of the characters.

Mohan's presentation at the Cannes Lions Festival included some interesting numbers. YouTube shorts were released in 2021 and have already averaged 200 billion views per day. Around. day. Take care, there are only 8 billion people on the planet.
Mohan said: “The next 20 years of bet? Creators turn formats, blend genres, and push deeper into the mainstream — as brand ambassadors, big corporate ventures, and visionary storytellers. The community continues to surprise us with the power of their collective fandom.
