It will be 2025 before you can see still image artwork on your TV. The next Google TV update coming this summer will let you create animated backgrounds for your TV using the Veo AI video generator.
Just like using Sora, Midjourney, or any other AI video generator, you just tell Veo a short description of what you want to create, like a cat on a skateboard. Unfortunately, the only example Google has seen is a cat on a skateboard.
So far, all Veo videos published by Google have all the hallmarks of an AI-generated video, including fuzzy textures and frame-by-frame distortion. We hope the real-world results look better while we test the new Google TV. TCL’s 2026 line of SQD-Mini LED TVs including TCL QM8L and TCL X11L.
Alternatively, users can use Veo to add movement to a collection of still photos, turning them into short animated home videos. With the new Google TV update, you can also use Nano Banana to transform still images, add silly outfits, change the background to space, and more. You can also use Google Photos Remix to give still images a different artistic look, like a watercolor or oil painting.
Google also uses Gemini to make it easier to find images in your Google Photos library. Just ask the Google AI Assistant to find sepsis moments, like a recent vacation or birthday, and Google TV will bring up a page of viewable results. You can also turn your Google Photos album into a dynamic slideshow, turning your TV into a giant photo frame.
Finally, Google TV will place YouTube Shorts in a new “Short Videos for You” row on the homepage, in case you want instant access to social media videos on your TV.
