The Google Pixel 9 series is set to be unveiled at the tech giant's event on August 13. The series is rumored to consist of the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold models. Ahead of the unveiling, new leaks claim that the smartphone may come with a new artificial intelligence (AI) feature called AI Call Notes. The feature is said to record and transcribe phone calls and provide a text summary of them.
Google Pixel 9 series may have AI call memo feature
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), tipster and software engineer Dylan Roussel claimed that the next Pixel 9 series may have an AI call notes feature. The tipster didn't reveal much about the feature, but he emphasized that it will be able to record and transcribe calls.
Last year, Google added an AI Summarise feature to the Recorder app on the Pixel 8 series, which uses the Gemini Nano AI model to process audio files and share their text transcriptions. If AI Call Notes does indeed make it onto the Pixel 9 series, it's likely to use similar technology.
However, no details were revealed about the features, such as the AI model used for processing and text generation, whether the text generation will be done in real time or a few minutes after the user hangs up, whether the other party will be notified that the call has been recorded and transcribed, etc. Notably, the source claims that the camera's panoramic mode will also be redesigned.
Previous reports have suggested that the base Pixel 9 model could feature a 6.3-inch display, while the Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL could feature 6.3-inch and 6.8-inch displays. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is rumored to feature a 6.3-inch display on the cover screen and an 8-inch display on the main screen. All smartphones are likely to be powered by the Tensor G4 chipset.
