Google As CNBC focuses on teaching employees the popular internal learning platform they have learned, it focuses on how modern artificial intelligence tools can be used in their daily work routines.

Grow used to be filled with a wide range of courses, from teaching Google employees how to build products, use 3D printers, personal funding support, and even how to solve Rubik's Cubes, as learning services are called. All of these products have been replaced primarily with AI-related courses.

According to an internal communication viewed by CNBC, employees with previously scheduled growth sessions have been notified that their signed up sessions in the spring will be cancelled and their course materials will be archived. The growth, which started over a decade ago, had grown to a list of over 500,000 before the AI ​​shakeup. According to sources and internal discussion forums, Grow is popular among employees and is considered one of the unique perks to work at Google.

“We have a proactive learning culture with a large number of in-house courses tied to corporate priorities, along with generous educational rebates,” a Google spokesperson said in an email. “Our internal course offerings have been inflated since launching it 10 years ago, and are exhilarating growth to help employees find the most relevant learning opportunities.”

The move to overhaul growth shows that Google is moving from some of its great programs to a more business product as it streamlines its operations to prioritize AI. The company is fighting to remain relevant to searches amid the intense AI arm race, which streamlines operations, personnel and employee benefits.

Google has enacted rolling layoffs within several units across the company, particularly after Finance Director Anat Ashkenazi said it could “push a little more” cost cuts last fall. Google, like many other high-tech giants, has rolled back programs such as its diversity, equity, inclusion, or DEI from President Trump's executive order amid streamlining its business.

A note sent to the employee who created the growth course, Google's leader wrote that the platform's “course was unused.” According to an internal message, “it has nothing to do with today's work.”

“What the organization has confirmed is up to date and focuses on business priorities,” wrote Google's People's Management staff.

The employee commented on an internal forum that the use of “focused on business priorities” repeated signs of the era. Google focuses primarily on programs that contribute to revenue.
