If there’s one thing that became clear as 6,500 executives, founders, and investors talked about artificial intelligence at the HumanX conference in San Francisco this week, it’s that Anthropic AI and enterprise AI tools are shifting the industry’s attention away from OpenAI, at least for now.
The event demonstrated the growing trend of companies adopting artificial intelligence coding systems, with Anthropic’s Claude Code being showcased at the event.
Executives highlighted the tool as a key topic in a discussion about software development and productivity that included OpenAI, Cursor, and competing products from Google.
Anthropic established its business operations in 2021, when former OpenAI scientists founded the company. The company has maintained its growth trajectory despite facing legal challenges and policy conflicts, including recent Department of Defense-related restrictions.
The company maintains multiple federal government partnerships while the legal process continues, which strengthens its market position in enterprise artificial intelligence.
Claude Code was made publicly available in May 2025 and has since become a popular tool for software code generation, code editing, and code review.
Industry experts believe the software has generated billions of dollars in annual revenue and created what some business leaders call “claudemania” across the industry.
Arvind Jain, CEO of Glean enterprise AI company, reported that businesses are quickly adopting this tool due to its growing popularity.
He explained that there is a strong preference among leaders for a single, good AI system that can handle complex coding workflows. The conference featured Anthropic’s latest model release, the Claude Mythos Preview. This gained interest due to its cybersecurity and reasoning capabilities, which are currently only accessible to select organizations.
Industry leaders say the rise of AI coding agents is also reshaping internal workflows. Companies are increasingly restructuring their engineering teams, and some are reporting that smaller teams are achieving faster production through automation.
Jeethu Patel, president of Cisco, said many companies are starting to treat AI systems as “digital colleagues,” changing the way teams are organized and work is done.
