This week's recap featured the release of Google's December 2025 core update. Google also said that more core updates are definitely on the way and should be released soon. Google has also updated its documentation to reiterate that it is, in fact, releasing smaller core updates more regularly without notice. Meanwhile, we've seen a lot of changes in Google search rankings this weekend and into this week, which is likely due to a core update. Google said that Discover is minimally tied to search rankings, which may be why Google Discover has so much spam. Google Search Console has added weekly and monthly smoothing to the graph. Social channels have been added to Insights in Google Search Console. The Google Shopping crawler is crawling too fast to display structured data generated by JavaScript. Links in Google AI mode have been updated to encourage clicks and include contextual testimonials. Google Preferred Sources is now global, and Google is focusing on subscriptions starting with Gemini, followed by Google AI Mode and AI Overview. Google Web Guides is available for users who opt in.[すべて]Expanded to tabs. Google News is experimenting with AI-powered article summaries. Google AI mode tests Search Live using citation cards. OpenAI has updated the ChatGPT crawler documentation. Bing is testing a hide/show button for sponsored results with ad groups. Bing is testing ad labels on the right. Bing is also testing expandable favicons on hover. Google is testing image animations in search ads. The Google Ads Contact Forum will test the Ads Advisor integration. Google Ads had a bug with uploading offline conversions. That was the search news at this week's Search Engine Roundtable.
