Google CEO Sundar Pichai has put artificial intelligence (AI) at the core of his company. Not only does Pichai provide Google users with his AI-powered tools, he also uses them to help educate children. He also said the company is ready for the excitement surrounding the technology.
In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Pichai was asked how he is experimenting with AI in families with children. He said he was helping his son with his homework.
“We use Google Lens for homework. I don't want to get him into trouble, but it's allowed in class,” Pichai said.
“But sometimes he asks me for help with math. Sometimes I'm lazy and pretend to think, but I also use Google Lens to find the answer,” he added. . Pichai is the father of a daughter and a son.
“Google prepares for AI frenzy”
Discussing the excitement surrounding AI, Pichai said that all technology cycles are “like this,” but AI is bigger.
“We still have a long way to go. We are at… [the] Its initial stage. And you're going to feel that excitement, that enthusiasm. But I think we're ready for it,” Pichai said.
“So it's about going with the flow. You accept it,” he added.
Pichai also talked about how the company allegedly lost the chatbot opportunity to OpenAI and Microsoft.
“We weren't the first company to search. We weren't the first company to introduce email. We weren't the first company to develop a browser…so I… considers this AI to be at the earliest possible stage,” he said.
Regarding competition from Microsoft, OpenAI, and other AI companies, Google's CEO said there will always be a lot of competition when it comes to technology.
“We see it all the time. The way to stay ahead is to constantly innovate. That always has to be true. It's happening at a faster pace. Changes in technology are faster in time. It tends to get faster over time. So it's not surprising at all to me,” he added.
