At its annual developer conference Google I/O 2024, Google announced an AI-generated quiz. In this quiz, YouTube's new conversational AI tool allows users to figuratively “raise their hand” when watching an educational video. Viewers can ask clarifying questions, get helpful explanations, and take quizzes on the subject.
The company says that the Gemini model's long context capabilities also allow this feature to work with long educational videos such as lectures and seminars. These new features are rolling out to some Android users in the US.

The official launch comes nearly a year after YouTube began experimenting with AI-generated quizzes on its mobile app.
With these new features, you can have AI summarize your videos and tell you why they're important. If you want to test your knowledge, you can ask the AI to quiz you on the topic. The AI then asks multiple-choice questions.
Given YouTube's position as a home for educational content, the new features will allow us to provide a more personalized and interactive experience for our learners.
Google made the announcement as it announced LearnLM, a new family of models based on Gemini and tweaked for learning.
