What you need to know
- The Gemini in the Google app now supports video analytics, allowing users to upload videos of AI-powered insights.
- As seen in the latest APK disassembly, users can upload videos for up to 5 minutes with Gemini AI Assistant Chat.
- Future updates may include direct video analysis via the camera app.
Gemini is constantly gaining functionality, and the latest version of the Google app brings new features to AI assistants similar to ChATGPT, including the ability to analyze videos.
The APK decomposition, made by the people of Android Authority, revealed that Gemini added support for video analysis. This feature appears to have been discovered in the Google App Bearing version 16.23.69. And it is said to be slowly unfolding for now, and users are expected to get it soon.
According to videos shared by the publication, videos on Android phones can be uploaded to Gemini AI Assistant for up to five minutes in length to analyze the content of the video. Here, the selected video can be 5 minutes or the user can upload multiple videos, but the running time must be 5 minutes (total).
To try out the feature, users will need to press the “Plus” button in the Gemini text box to upload the video from the gallery/file. Gemini generates analysis of the video and also provides further details on related pointers.

Currently, this feature is limited to file uploads to Gemini AI Assistant. However, in future releases, users can expect to see that instead of selecting a gallery/file for an existing video upload, they will behave correctly from recording camera video when the user presses the camera icon.
A handy new way to get a summary
Like what ChatGpt has had for a while, the latest addition is a welcome feature of Gemini through the Google app. This helps to summarise whether the user has filmed or received on the video they received over the phone.
It can be beneficial for students, assuming they record their classes, watch a demo of something important like equipment features, or get a brief overview of it on their mobile phone with the help of Gemini. Additionally, AI assistants expect to be able to quickly remove the 5-minute video threshold in the near future after a wider deployment.
