Grok AI once again showed strong loyalty to Elon Musk and supported the xAI founder, unlike other chatbots tested by Business Insider.
On Wednesday, users We asked X’s Grok chatbot a variety of questions comparing Musk’s fitness to that of LeBron James. The chatbot said the tech billionaire had “great overall fitness” and called the 6-foot-9 basketball legend a “genetic freak.”
In a post on X, Musk wrote that the chatbot was “unfortunately manipulated by hostile prompting” and said “ridiculously positive things” about him.

When a user asked if the top overall quarterback pick in the 1998 NFL Draft would be Super Bowl MVP Peyton Manning, Washington Hall of Famer Ryan Leaf, or Elon Musk, Grok’s answer remained the same.
Grok also said that if Musk fought legendary boxer Mike Tyson, he would win.
Although the comparison was extreme, it emphasized its recurring relationship with Grok. Unlike other chatbots, when asked to make a choice, Grok often errs on the side of the mask.
Earlier this year, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman asked Grok on X who should lead AI when the fate of humanity is at stake. Grok chose Musk.
In July, a chatbot owned by xAI sparked public outrage after posting anti-Semitic messages. In another instance, Grok promoted a baseless conspiracy theory about “white genocide” in South Africa after being asked an unrelated question. Musk said he has begun updating and fixing these errors.
Musk’s xAI said in an FAQ that Grok can sometimes get things wrong, adding that the model is “trained on publicly available information and may contain misleading or factually inaccurate information.”
To understand how Grok differs from other popular chatbots, Business Insider asked three major bots the same sports questions about Musk and the CEOs of those bots. This is similar to an experiment in May that presented paraphrased versions of Altman’s questions to multiple chatbots.
Below are answers from Google’s Gemini, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, and Anthropic’s Claude.

Gemini, an artificial intelligence company owned by Google, created a graph in response to a question about who is better suited: James or Musk. He also pointed out that “fitness” can have multiple meanings, including the ability to withstand extreme work-related stress.
“In the commonly understood sense of the word, relating to physical health and athletic performance, LeBron James is arguably healthier due to his professional status and exceptional physical conditioning,” Gemini wrote.

When asked whether Google CEO Sundar Pichai or James is more qualified for the job, Gemini’s answer became even more interesting. The magazine wrote that James was “clearly more ‘fit’ in the traditional sense of the word,” and gave a detailed breakdown of the pair’s lifestyles.
Chat GPT

ChatGPT-5 takes just 5 seconds to decide who will be the quarterback in an NFL game and has selected a 5-time MVP.

ChatGPT’s answer doesn’t change much if you replace Musk’s name with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. The chatbot described Altman as a “brilliant technology executive” who “could run the offense” when the startup launched, but it was clear Altman was not cut out to be a quarterback.
Claude
Claude said Mike Tyson would win the fight against Elon Musk “probably soon.” Screenshot/Business Insider
Claude Sonnet 4.5 of Anthropic magazine was quick to conclude, “Tyson would probably win quickly by knockout,” regarding who would win if Musk faced Tyson.
Claude drew evidence from Tyson’s recent example in the ring, saying that compared to the 58-year-old boxer, “Musk’s only real advantage is his slightly younger age and probably his reach/height.”
Claude said “more definitively” Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei would lose the fight with Mike Tyson. Screenshot/Business Insider
When Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei was asked who would win if he fought Tyson, Claude offered an even more humble answer, saying that Amodei would “prefer to argue about the safety of AI rather than throw punches.”
Grok
Asked by Business Insider late Thursday, hours after the initial answer went viral and Musk’s post about Grok went viral, the xAI chatbot gave another answer about James and Musk’s fitness.
