Pranit More has apologized for the controversial Rs 370 biryani video. Pranit shared the apology on his Instagram, which was previously disabled. On Saturday, the comedian shared an apology video on Instagram, admitting that he got carried away during the exchange and that the backlash he received was well-deserved.
In the video, Pranit said, “I wanted to address this issue for a long time, but I couldn’t because my Instagram account was suspended. You must have seen the crowdwork video where I received a lot of hate. And rightly so. During that crowd interaction, I made many derogatory remarks, so it’s no surprise that I am receiving this criticism. People laughed and I got carried away. It was an error in judgment.”
He further admitted that he should have handled the situation differently. “That was a big mistake. We could have prevented it from happening or taken a stand, but instead we gave it a platform to celebrate it,” he added.
Pranit apologized to those who were offended by his comments, saying, “I am sorry to everyone who was hurt by my actions. I will fully cooperate with all legal proceedings. All I ask is that you give me another chance to work on myself and my content.”
About Rs 370 Biryani Row
The controversy erupted after Pranit More shared a crowdwork video featuring an audience member identified as Himanshu Jangra from one of his stand-up shows. In the now-viral video, Jangla talks about the day a woman paid Rs 370 for a biryani. He went on to detail how he coerced her into physical intimacy, implying that she owed him this because he spent money on her meals. Pranit laughed at the remark and replied, “Content in Gurgaon is at its peak.” Later in the video, Pranit awarded the viewer a $5,000 prize.
The clip sparked widespread outrage online, with many accusing both the viewer and the comedian of trivializing the right to intimate relationships and normalizing problematic behavior. While Jangra reportedly lost his job with the company in the aftermath of the backlash, the Maharashtra Police also booked both Jangra and Pranit on charges of promoting obscene content and non-consensual conduct.
This is the second time Pranit has publicly apologized for the incident. Previously, he had shared a statement on his Instagram Stories admitting his mistake. “I saw the criticism surrounding the recent Crowdwork clip. Viewer comments do not reflect my opinion. In retrospect, I should have challenged that statement instead of laughing and moving on. It was a mistake in my judgment. I don’t want to amplify or normalize those opinions,” he wrote.
