Moonvalley AI Inc. is a generative artificial intelligence research startup working on video AI models and tools trained with fully licensed content, and today announced an additional $84 million in funding.

The funding round was led by Catalyst, a general existing investors, and included strategic investments from Entertainment and Sports Agency Creative Artist Agency, AI Cloud CoreWeave, Comcast Ventures, Khosla Ventures and Ycombinator. The funding brings the total company has raised $154 million.

MoonValley recently unveiled its flagship model to the public. It was designed to be a production-grade AI videography platform built purely on licensed content, and has become a “ethical” model for professional filmmakers and brand designers.

“We are building world-class models while respecting our creative community. These partners help us provide studios and creators with a real alternative to unlicensed models.”

The company works directly with Hollywood's film production arm Asteria, and generative AI film and animation studios. Leading by two-time Oscar-winning Bryn Mooser, the arm fully understands industry expertise and what filmmakers, studios and brand experts need from AI models and tools.

In Marey's development, Talukdar emphasized that the company's vision is to focus on industry collaboration and avoid creating creative work. This model is designed to work with filmmakers and experts, and does not replace them. To achieve this, he said the company addressed the issues that real editors and industry workers face daily in their work, creating products that suit their needs.

Additionally, its asset library is ethically sourced from licensed content, so you can be sure that everything the models and tools generate is commercially safe.

“AI's ethically led, talent-friendly applications are top priority for CAAs. These new tools and technologies offer opportunities, and a set of partners that are in line with the ethics behind AI is important.” “Moonbury understands that AI should empower artists, not undermine them.”

Marey's asset library and tools allow filmmakers and experts to build scenes using a variety of flexible tools like video games. You can add characters, define movements, import images, understand structure, define movements, use English prompts, and guide camera angles. The basic AI models and tools released are one of the most cutting edge products in the industry to date, according to the company.

The intersection of AI and filmmaking continues to attract attention, creating both interest and backlash from the industry. In an open letter sent to the US White House, more than 400 film industry experts (directors, actors, musicians and other creatives below the line) have signed a proposal calling for support of copyright laws for AI and high-tech companies seeking to train AI models. The Academy of Motion Picture Science said that AI-generated works could be eligible for Oscars. However, when selecting a winner, human involvement is considered and more human involvement is desired.

Last week, almost a year's strike by screen actors guild-american federal and radio artists video game audio and motion capture actors recently ended with the signing of a new contract that adds additional protections. These include consent and disclosure requirements for AI-generated digital replicas, and the ability for performers to suspend consent to the generation of new material during strikes.

With the new capital, Moonvalley said it intends to scale up to meet the demand for businesses. It is looking to expand its licensed content library, increase access to developers and internal platform teams, and build more features for Studio and Enterprise Partners. The company said it employs engineering and support staff for its corporate scale deployment.

“Our research team solves the most challenging problems with video AI, from understanding real-world physics and natural movements to providing frame-level control for filmmakers,” says Mateusz Malinowski, chief science officer at Moonvalley. “We are proof that licensed models can provide the quality and accuracy that professional productions require.”
