Australian small and medium-sized businesses will now have access to expert advice on how to safely introduce artificial intelligence into their operations.
Minister of Science, Industry and Innovation Ed Fusick today announced four AI Recruiting Centres to act as gateways connecting businesses with AI expertise as part of a $17 million AI Recruiting Program.
Mr Fusic said if businesses could get AI right, it would be easier to mobilise the industry to create the future in Australia.
“These AI hiring centers will be partners in helping small and medium-sized businesses improve their productivity and will collaborate on developing new products safely and responsibly.”

The four AI recruitment projects will be run by:
- The Boab AI Adopt Centre is a consortium of industry and university partners that offers courses and one-on-one mentoring on AI, focusing on medicine, agriculture, renewable energy and low-emission technologies.
- Digital Transformation Australia is leveraging its Advanced Robotics Manufacturing (ARM) Hub to provide manufacturing SMEs with a tangible way to understand how AI can benefit their business.
- 11MWe help small and medium-sized businesses with the design and implementation of AI solutions with a focus on workflow and governance solutions.
- Redgrid Internet of Energy Enterprises focuses on local small and medium-sized enterprises, particularly in the agriculture, forestry, fisheries and renewable technology sectors.
These four organizations were selected through a competitive grant process.
Each centre will target businesses in key priority areas of the National Recovery Fund.
The centers will aim to demonstrate how AI can modernize business and improve productivity.
We provide clear guidance on how to deploy AI safely and efficiently.
The AI Recruitment Centre will also provide free specialised training to equip businesses and staff with the specific skills to manage AI effectively.
These centers will complement the National Artificial Intelligence Center and join the Responsible AI Network.
