Tech Titans continues to argue that AI will lead the “golden age” of humanity, where all diseases can be cured, people live in abundance, and workers have the power of “supermanents.” But the former Google executive denounces the notion that the technology actually creates new jobs for humans, not for recruiters.
“My belief is 100% just junk,” said Mo Gawdat, former chief business officer at Google X, recently. CEO's Diary Podcast. “Every job remains with the best job. It will last for a while, the best software developers, the people who really know the architecture, the technology, etc.”
Gawdat has joined a cohort of red flag waving leaders who have AI to launch Jobs Armageddon within the next five to 15 years. Companies such as Duolingo, Workday and Klarna have either fully hired humans, fired large numbers of staff or have already stopped hiring humans to prepare for an AI-centric workforce.
But executives shouldn't celebrate efficiency gains early. Their role is also the chopping block, who has worked in technology for 30 years and writes books on AI development.
“The CEOs are celebrating that AI can do the job, allowing them to drive people away and increase productivity and reduce costs. One thing they don't think about is that AI will replace them too,” Gawdat continued. “AGI would be better for everyone than humans, including CEOs. You have to imagine that there will be times when most incompetent CEOs will be replaced.”
The vision of a robot-only, non-human-owned company is very dystopian, but former Google executives are not afraid of what will happen next. The 58-year-old doesn't think of AI as the perpetrator of unemployment. He argued that Money-Hungry CEO should actually blame technology for taking over the pursuit of economic benefits.
“AI is not at all problematic. There is a big problem with the human value set in an age of machinery rise,” Gawdat says. “And the greatest set of humanity's values is capitalism today. And what is capitalism? A labor ruling.”

For humans to flourish, AI needs to replace “evil” world leaders
AI is already outperforming humans in some abilities. You can analyze code, customer requests resolution, management work, and even market figures. I don't know where my future abilities are.
Technology leaders such as Google Deepmind CEO Demis Hassabis and Openai Chief Sam Altman have asserted that by 2030 even the most powerful people will outperform. That could be good for humanity.
He said technology will become a more moral world leader as harmful leaders use technology to “expand the evils that humans can make.”
“The only way we can get to a better place is to replace the evil people on the top with AI,” Gawdat continued on the podcast. “[World leaders] You need to exchange yourself [with] ai. Otherwise they will lose their advantage. ”
Gawdat isn't just about alarm cries about the impact of AI on humanity's future. Altman and Google's chief Sundar Pichai have expressed the need for AI regulations. This is whether “major governments” draw a line in the sand or create high-level governance bodies to oversee potential harm.
“In the end, it is likely that something like the IAEA will be needed for close efforts,” Altman wrote in a 2023 blog post, adding that the AI project “must stand up against international authorities who can place system inspections, audits, testing compliance with safety standards, limiting deployment levels, and limiting security levels.”
