Delhi police registered the FIR on Saturday following complaints by BJP workers regarding AI-generated “Deep Fake” videos shared by Bihar Congress forces.

The video was allegedly undermined the reputation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother, officials confirmed.

The complaint was filed on Friday by Sanket Gupta, the convener of the BJP's Delhi election cell at North Avenue Police Station. Gupta accused the video of “impairing the image of the Prime Minister and violating the law, morality and the dignity of women.”

According to the complaint, the video was posted on September 10th on the official X-handle of the Bihar Congress Unit. It portrayed Prime Minister Modi dreaming about his late mother, who was criticising his political decision in vote-bound Bihar.

The FIR was submitted to unnamed persons based on several sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS): 336 (forgery), 340 (2) (forgery or use of counterfeit electronic records), 352 (intentional insults in causing a violation of peace), 356 (2), 61 (2) (2)

The BJP and its allies denounced the video, calling it “shameful” and questioned how far the opposition would go to attack the prime minister.

However, Congress defended the video. Pawan Khera, head of the party's media and propaganda division, said, “What are their objections? Where is this because their mother is trying to educate their son to do something right?
