Faraday Future is almost cashless, and its long-delayed EV is not yet in the hands of customers. So it’s the perfect time for a publicly traded company to dive headfirst into his AI hype machine.

Faraday Future announced Tuesday that it is adding generative AI to its first production car, the FF 91 Futurist. Whether the vehicle has been repeatedly delayed for years, or that Faraday Future has slumped to his last $30 million as of three weeks ago, and has pushed back delivery times again, or that the company has pushed back one Never mind that you bounced from one internal drama to another. Just mention the term “generative AI” and the money is sure to pour in.

And what do you know? Shares rose 6.2% after the announcement. Of course, fundamentals often catch up with even the smartest public companies. That stock price rise may not last long.

Faraday Future said it has launched a “generative AI product stack” that will be integrated into FF 91. GPT-4 and by companies such as OpenAI and Microsoft. ”

If that sentence sounds like a vaporware version of Mad Libs, it’s not. ChatGPT is a text-generating AI chatbot developed by his tech startup OpenAI. Chatbots use GPT-4, a large-scale language model that uses deep learning to generate human-like text. In February, Microsoft integrated his GPT-4 model into the Bing search engine.

Basically, Faraday Future said a lot of words implying that it plans to use ChatGPT.

“This generative AI product stack has the potential for the company to expand into additional advanced generative AI models, providing users with extraordinary capabilities,” the company added in its announcement. Faraday Future does not explain what additional advanced generative AI models mean or what extraordinary capabilities they will provide users. The company plans to use generative AI for personalized applications like “complex text and voice queries, image and video generation, stock analysis, live translation, search, entertainment, education, e-commerce, and more.” said.

Note that today’s new vehicle models are equipped with software that includes natural language processing capabilities (voice assistants that provide navigation and can handle other queries). Generative AI is not required to provide these capabilities.

The first production build of the FF 91 vehicle rolled off the assembly line at our Hanford, California facility in April. However, deliveries to customers have not yet begun. Faraday Future has postponed the first delivery of the FF 91 Futurist EV, the first part of a three-phase program, to the end of May. His next two phases of production and delivery are still question marks. Faraday Future said it needs “substantial additional funding” to begin deliveries of the second and third phases and is in talks with additional potential investors. The Faraday Future has yet to complete a crash test either.
