Fans question WWE’s use of AI after AEW logo appears on AAA title

Applications of AI

Wrestling fans are criticizing WWE over the potential use of AI after glaring production errors.

During AAA’s first broadcast on FOX in Mexico on Saturday, a short video featuring Dominik Mysterio was aired. In the video, Mysterio claimed that he was the reason for AAA’s success. The same video was also posted on AAA and WWE’s YouTube channels, where Mysterio referred to himself as the “King of the Luchadors.”

At around the 1:03 mark, images of Mysterio and the WWE Intercontinental Championship and AAA Mega Championship appeared on the screen. However, the title on his waist briefly displayed the AEW logo instead of AAA.

The image went viral on social media, with some fans accusing WWE of using AI to create the video.

Featuring animated versions of actual footage, the video further deepened Mysterio’s persona as a heel and potentially introduced Mysterio to a new audience. It’s debatable how much value the animation added to the show instead of actual footage.

WWE came under fire in October after reports surfaced that the company was using AI for videos, graphics and even story ideas. Fightful reported that WWE has had AI software in place for years, but has rarely used it, relying primarily on AI to organize production tasks and remove background noise from certain scenes.
