Time magazine named architects of AI its Person of the Year in 2025, but if these “thinking computers” are represented by the artificial intelligence used in Amazon Prime Video, they aren't actually thinking at all. Prime Video posted an AI recap video for Fallout Season 1 that got it so horribly wrong that it almost played like a parody – at least until it was taken down.
Until earlier today, Prime Video subscribers could see it for themselves by visiting the Fallout Season 2 page and clicking on “Fallout – Season 1 Recap.” However, that video has since been deleted. The AI tone of the narrator's voice was perfect evidence as to the origin of the video. However, it soon became clear that the video had not even been verified by show officials. The most obvious example of this is the description of the video's flashback scene, which states that it takes place in the 1950s rather than retro-future 2077.
The video was also cut and edited in a haphazard manner that seemed almost random. Near the end of the video, a voiceover implied that the ghoul forced Lucy to go to New Vegas with him by threatening to kill her. The video struggles to get even the basic facts correct, and if the show had more in-universe AI material, it would have been believable as a great joke.
Fallout executive producer Jonathan Nolan recently revealed that there are plans to film season 3 this summer for reruns on Prime Video as soon as possible. Fallout Season 2 will be available on Prime Video on December 17th. The remaining episodes of Season 2 will be released weekly.
