A video was posted on Facebook that purportedly features a female US Army soldier looking for a husband to help out on her family's farm. Several Filipinos and foreigners expressed interest in the fake ad post.
In the doctored video, artificial intelligence (AI) was used on a photo of a female soldier to make her appear to say:
“Hello, I'm Emily from America, I'm in the Army and I'm 35 years old. A week ago I lost my father in a car accident. I'm very sad because my father ran a big farm with 13 generations of animals. I'm alone at home and I have no brothers or sisters to help me. That's why I left the Army. I need a caring and loving man to marry me and help me manage my father's farm. If any man is interested, it doesn't matter if he's from a foreign country, so I will cover the visa costs.”
The photo was then uploaded to an online talking photo tool that uses AI to add animations to the head and mouth to make it appear as if the person is actually speaking. The tool in question also uses AI to generate audio and subtitles to add to the AI animated photo.

A reverse image search reveals that the original photo, uploaded to Pinterest on March 5, 2024, is of an unidentified female soldier in the Chilean military.
VERA File Fact Check was unable to verify the woman's identity, but learned that the soldier belongs to the Chilean Army Education Department (Ejercito de Chile – Division Educacion). [DIVEDUC]Judging from the patch on her left arm, we can tell she is “(female)”.
A quick Google search reveals that farm worker vacancies exist but are not currently being advertised on both the UCRI job portal and American job search engine Glassdoor.
This website is not an official UCRI page and does not redirect you to the university job portal.
The fake video garnered a total of 3,600 reactions, 1,000 comments and 125 shares. The video was posted on July 5, three days after reports emerged that the number of job openings in the U.S. had increased in May of last year.
