An investigation by Vishvas News has revealed that the footage of a tar stuck in an overhead billboard on a highway was created entirely by AI.
New Delhi (Vishwas News). A shocking video of a Mahindra Thar vehicle getting stuck between the iron frame of an overhead billboard on a national highway is going viral on social media. This is being shared as it is an actual accident that happened on National Highway 48.
Vishvas News investigated and found that this was not a real road accident and the video was created using artificial intelligence (AI).
What’s trending?
Twitter user Ramesh Meena shared this video on February 18, 2026 and wrote: “This video is going viral and shows a Thar vehicle directly ramming into a billboard…! Looks like NH 48… Perhaps the Thar vehicle was heading towards Jaipur and ended up ramming it directly.”
In the video, tar can be seen tearing through a giant billboard panel several feet off the ground.
investigation
We searched for media reports using keywords regarding such incidents on NH 48. If a vehicle had crashed into a billboard on one of India’s busiest highways, it would have made the news. However, no confirmation of any such incident was obtained from the police or administration.
Upon closer inspection of the video, I noticed some inconsistencies. For example, the text on the right side of the overhead sign is useless. AI often makes mistakes like this when generating text. Additionally, if a heavy vehicle like Thar were to hit the board, the entire structure should collapse, but in the video the board appears to be perfectly stable.
To confirm this, we tested the video using an AI detection tool.
Hive Moderation showed that the probability that the video was generated by AI is 99.9%.

Another tool, Sightengine, estimated the likelihood of being generated by AI at 89%.

AVSRDD (2025), a DeepFake-o-meter tool developed by the University at Buffalo, confirmed that the video was 99.9% AI-generated.

AI expert Azahar Makwe acknowledged that the video is an example of “synthetic media.” He explained that he used video generation AI to create it.
Automotive innovator and MD of Shailsang Innovations Pvt Ltd, Shailendra Gaur, told us about the video, “The curb weight of a standard Mahindra Thar is around 1750-2100 kg, while a typical hatchback weighs between 800-1000 kg. It takes a significant amount of energy and initial velocity to propel it to a height of .”Physically, just reaching this height would require a vertical velocity of about 10 m/s, but this would be highly unlikely in normal road conditions without ramps. Additionally, aluminum panels on highway overhead signage are likely to rupture or undergo significant structural deformation if struck by a two-ton vehicle, and a vehicle stranded without visible damage would be considered structurally questionable. ”
