EY rolls out AI tools for tax teams

AI For Business

The new AI offering includes two core elements: EY.ai Tax Labs, a collaborative environment where clients and EY staff can co-develop AI-driven tax strategies that address complex data, regulatory and operational challenges, and EY.ai Tax Agent Factory, a global tool that enables tax professionals to design, build and deploy AI agents that automate multi-step tax processes and generate smarter, real-time insights.

The Big Four said these new services will combine EY’s tax expertise and its multi-alliance technology ecosystem to help companies leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to generate “trusted data to deliver faster insights, improve compliance accuracy and achieve new levels of operational efficiency.”

These tools are designed to help tax professionals move from manual, compliance-focused practices to data-driven models that support strategic decision-making, improve tax compliance, and address an increasingly complex regulatory environment.

The announcement comes as CFOs and tax professionals struggle to justify spending and return on investment as they move from experimentation to enterprise-wide transformation and come under increasing pressure to realize the benefits of AI responsibly and at scale.

Myrna Ricker, EY Global Vice Chair of Tax, said: “There is no one-size-fits-all approach in tax, and these services demonstrate our commitment to leveraging the latest AI and technology to transform the tax function of the future.

“We are focused on working with our clients to identify opportunities for innovation and delivering advanced solutions that address their unique organizational needs and increase the effectiveness and value of their tax operations.”

EY.ai Tax Labs leverages emerging technologies, particularly generative and agentic AI, to help clients “tackle data challenges and complex tax issues and deliver adaptive, AI-driven strategies that address evolving regulatory and operational demands,” EY said.

It provides a collaborative, creative and open-ended environment for clients and EY teams to work together to develop, test and implement clear AI-driven strategies that will shape the future of the tax function.

One of its key functions will be to provide support for developing business cases for the use of AI, and EY stressed that it “seeks to ensure a solid return on investment and tangible business outcomes for our clients.”

EY.ai Tax Agent Factory is designed to deploy agent AI at scale to automate complex, multi-step tax processes and identify patterns in financial data. This allows businesses to streamline data processes and minimize manual input.

Joe Depa, EY Global Chief Innovation Officer, added, “With EY.ai Tax Labs and EY.ai Tax Agent Factory, we are giving our clients the tools to accelerate transformation and deliver greater strategic value from tax.”

“Harnessing the power of trusted, AI-enabled data delivers faster insights, smarter decisions, and scalable results, all backed by the deep experience of our global team of tax experts.”

These services will combine EY’s tax expertise and multi-alliance technology ecosystem to help businesses leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and trusted data to “deliver faster insights, improve compliance accuracy and achieve new levels of operational efficiency,” the Big Four firm said.
