If you participated or streamed a plenary session at ESRI's 2024 user conference, you may be familiar with the capabilities of AI Assistant in the ArcGIS Business Analyst web app. Plenary Presenter Jess Altamira demonstrated the scope of the interactive features of Business Analyst Assistant (Beta).
Now you can follow the newly released ESRI tutorial to run this workflow yourself and explore the pickleball market using your AI assistant. Read the background on business analysts' approach to AI and an overview of new tutorials.
AI comes to business analysts
Business Analyst Assistant (BETA) is an in-app productivity tool that uses artificial intelligence to recommend popular workflows, data, infographic reports and tips. Business Analyst Assistant (BETA) helps new users learn about the app, leading existing users to increase productivity.
The assistant can assist you with tasks related to the following features: Running infographics, using searches of interest, creating color-coded maps, using smart map searches, and creating buffered point-based sites. They also share tips that provide guidance on running your workflow (similar to a guided tour).
Why pickleball?
If you live near a pickleball court, it's not news for you that it is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States. From Iowa corn to San Quentin's gardens, courts are gushing out, and the pickleball industry is expanding accordingly.
Pickleball data is one of the most requested datasets for business analysts in recent years, with ESRI's market potential dataset featuring behavioral data reflecting pickleball participation over the past 12 months.
Check out the tutorial
This new tutorial uses the Business Analyst web app to analyse where your Pickleball equipment business can grow.
First, create a map showing the locations of recreation centers, showing where people have purchased more recreational sports goods than the national average. You can use Select your geography Add tools to add sites to the map, then add interesting points (POIs) to identify the recreation center. Add consumer behavior data using color-coded maps to enrich locations on the map.
Next, we can use the recommendations of our Business Analyst Assistant (BETA) to explore the demand for pickleballs in our region. You can enter the prompt to request a map of people who have played pickle balls in the past year within the area of interest.
Business Analyst Assistant (BETA) provides recommendations and can create color-coded maps from there. You can use tips to investigate results and modify the map.
To complete the analysis, you can generate infographics that contain information specific to recreational products and spending behaviors for recreational activities.
To view the complete tutorial, be sure to use your AI assistant to explore the pickleball market.
