Frontier AI Initiative forum brings together developers, investors, and industry stakeholders
European artificial intelligence leaders are invited to apply to join a new forum aimed at helping shape the EU’s efforts to advance cutting-edge technologies as part of the bloc’s Frontier AI initiative.
According to the European Commission, the Expert Forum on Frontier AI will map existing efforts and identify challenges and opportunities related to Europe’s competitiveness, sovereignty and security at this frontier.
Developers, investors, and industry leaders are specifically sought after, but the forum is open to other “senior-level” individuals as well. Participants must be based in the EU, Iceland, or Norway.
Frontier AI Initiative
The EU Frontier AI Initiative was announced as part of the Apply AI strategy published in October and launched by France and Germany with support from the European Commission in November.
“The initial focus of this initiative is to establish a unique non-profit public-private structure that can address strategic gaps and strengthen European capacities,” the European Commission said in its call for expertise.
It describes AI as “increasingly transformative” and becoming a “strategic asset” that Europe must be able to use and rely on.
Application details
Those wishing to join the Forum are asked to make their recommendations for the initiative in an application, which must be submitted by March 12th, ahead of the Forum’s first meeting to be held online on April 23rd. Members are not paid for their work.
This forum will be overseen by the Commission AI Secretariat.
