(January 15, 2026, 15:52 GMT | Official Statement) — MLex Overview: A cross-party coalition of EU lawmakers is calling for a ban on AI-based nudity applications in the EU following backlash over Company X’s AI model Grok producing non-consensual intimate images and child sexual abuse material. 57 members of the European Parliament, from the centre-right to the far-left, are calling on the European Commission to ban this application under EU AI law. Under the AI Act, the commission is supposed to review the list of prohibited use cases annually, but the first deadline passed in August last year. The letter is in the attached file.
